Taranto (TA)

The project

Coperni shows the air we breathe, now and over the next hours, around an Italian municipality, a European city or your own location. The map shows how pollutants are spread across the area; the charts show how the past week went and what is forecast for the next two days.

Why

Air quality data exists and is public, but it is usually hard to consult: technical files, expert portals, monitoring stations scattered across the territory. Coperni takes the forecasts of the European Copernicus programme and makes them readable at a glance, comparing them with the European reference thresholds.

What you will find

These are forecasts, not measurements. The values come from a mathematical model of the atmosphere, not from monitoring stations. They are useful to understand the overall situation and how it evolves, but they can differ from what is measured at a precise spot (a busy street, the bottom of a valley). For official data about your area, refer to your regional or national environmental agency.
